Ενημερωτική επιστολή από General Medical Council του Ηνωμ. Βασιλείου για τις εγγραφές των ιατρών μετά το Brexit
3 February 2020
Dear European colleagues
UK exit from the European Union
I am writing to you following the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU) last
week.
I want to reassure you that despite the political developments, we remain committed to working closely with you to promote patient safety and to ensure that European doctors can continue to come to the UK to work.
I would like to confirm that:
1 The registration status of doctors from the EEA and Switzerland who already hold registration with the GMC has not been affected by EU exit and employment contracts will not need to be changed. That means that staff won’t have to reapply for their current positions after exit day.
2 There will be no changes to the way that new applicants from the EEA are
able to join the UK medical register during the transition period. The transition period is due to end on 31 December 2020.
The GMC and the healthcare systems across the UK value the contribution that doctors from the rest of Europe have made and are continuing to make towards care and treatment in this country.
Throughout the transition
period, we will
continue to share details of
doctors who
have
been restricted or erased from practise in the UK with you
via the EU’s Internal
Market Information
(IMI) alert mechanism.
We
very much hope that you
will continue to share the same information
with us.
We look forward to continuing to work closely together, both on a bilateral basis and through the European networks of which we are members. We greatly value our collaboration and hope that this close working will continue.
Yours sincerely
Charlie Massey
